1st Day report from Janet:
I wanted firstly to extend our heartfelt thanks for the miracle that arrived this afternoon.Hemi is a gorgeous dog and the most gentle of giants( even though he has some repair work to be done)
Tiffanie, you are one amazing woman to come so far for our boy. I was overwhelmed when you got him out of your vehicle and even though I knew he was scared, he was still ready to come home with his Mom and Dad.
Sue, I want to thank you for continuing the search to find us the dog who needed a home like ours and who complete the empty spot.
And Lynn, I don't know how to say thanks to someone who has fought clawed scratched and cajoled EVERYONE to give us our BIG miracle.
Hemi's trip home was uneventful.
I sat in the back with him until I couldn't feel my legs anymore (about 60 miles) and he was just a grand dog. He looked around and watched tractor trailers whiz by, reacted to his Daddy calling his name and then he laid his head into my hands and gave me the Hi Mom look. It was amazing to see how reflective he was. We had to stop to go potty( mom and dad not hemi) so we took turns and when daddy came back and spoke to our boy he licked his hand and smiled the leo smile. Not bad for my little wounded guy? He slept most of the way home and we didn't have to cajole him TOO much to get him out of the van and into the house. He ran up the stairs with mom and dad on either side and then did a quick run through the first floor to see where is he was going to settle in. He is sleeping as I write this although he opens his eyes if we turn on the overhead lights and he loves to investigate what we have in the fridge. He is sleeping in the exact spot our Deucey did in the kitchen and we are going to let him get his bearings for the next few days.
After a bit we will bathe and groom but he needs to recoop from all the stress of coming so far so fast. I will hear from y'all soon I know and I am grateful I have my personal support team.
